Speak Up for Ansley Park: In Person Public Comment Prep | Preparación en Persona para Comentario Público

About 130 families are at risk of losing their homes if Weekley Homes gets the rezoning they are asking for. The Woodstock Planning Commission heard this case on August 6. City Council takes the final vote on August 24. Public comment is one of the last places where residents get to speak directly to the people making this decision.

If you’re planning to speak at the City Council meeting, or you’re thinking about it and not sure where to start, meet us at Woofstock Dog Park on Saturday afternoon.

In about an hour we will cover:

• What City Council is actually deciding on August 24 and how that differs from what the Planning Commission did

• Assigned topics so we cover every angle instead of twelve people saying the same thing

• Practice time so you can say your opening out loud and get timed

• Logistics for August 24, including arrival time, comment sign up cards, and what happens if the item gets tabled again

You don’t need experience with public comment. You don’t need to be a policy expert. You need about two minutes and something true to say about what this development would do to your neighbors.

Look for the NGA CAN group at 150 Dupree Rd. We will be outside, so bring water and a hat. Shade is limited. Kids are welcome and so are dogs, since we are at a dog park.

We hope to have Spanish language support available.

Registration is not required to attend, but signing up helps us print enough materials and know how many people to expect.

Alrededor de 130 familias corren el riesgo de perder sus casas si Weekley Homes consigue el cambio de zonificación que están pidiendo. La Comisión de Planeación de Woodstock revisó este caso el 6 de agosto. El Concejo Municipal toma el voto final el 24 de agosto. • Tiempo de práctica para que digas tu apertura en voz alta y te tomemos el tiempo

• Logística para el 24 de agosto, incluyendo hora de llegada, tarjetas de registro para comentar, y qué pasa si el punto se pospone otra vez

No necesitas experiencia dando comentario público. No necesitas ser experto en políticas públicas. Necesitas unos dos minutos y algo verdadero que decir sobre lo que este desarrollo le haría a tus vecinos.
