Jasper CAN Is Here. And We're Starting Loud.

Pickens County has not had a home in North Georgia Community Action Network. Until now.

We are proud to announce the launch of Jasper CAN, the newest branch of NGA CAN, bringing organized progressive community power to Jasper and Pickens County. We are a volunteer led, nonpartisan collective rooted in the same values that have built NGA CAN into a 4,200 member organization across Cherokee, Bartow, Forsyth, Cobb, and surrounding counties: show up, tell the truth, and do not wait for someone else to fix it.

Jasper CAN is not a Facebook group. It is not a newsletter. It is people, standing together, doing the unglamorous and necessary work of civic organizing in a place where that work is not always welcome. That is exactly why it needs to happen here.

Why Pickens County. Why Now.

We know what it feels like to be a progressive in a deeply red county. We know the isolation of watching your local government make decisions that harm your neighbors while assuming no one is paying attention. We know the particular exhaustion of feeling like your vote does not matter, your voice does not carry, and your county has already made up its mind.

NGA CAN was built on the belief that none of that is actually true.

Pickens County deserves that same energy. Jasper CAN is here to build it.

Our Kickoff Event: Stand Up Jasper

We are launching with a rally, and we are not easing into it.

We will be standing in public, with our names and our faces and our signs, saying clearly what we believe. We are for peace. We are for democracy. We are for the rule of law and the dignity of every person in this community. We are against an administration that has abandoned American values in favor of fear, authoritarian overreach, and loyalty to oligarchs over ordinary people.

This is a peaceful, legal, public demonstration. You do not need to belong to any party or organization to come. Democrats, Independents, Libertarians, members of Indivisible, 50501, DSA, PSL, and Republicans who still believe in the Constitution are all welcome. If you just think the current administration has lost the plot and someone needs to say so out loud on a sidewalk in Jasper, Georgia, you are exactly who we are looking for.
