Memorial Day Sign Waving: Honor the Fallen, Bring Them Home, Fund the VA

This Memorial Day, join North Georgia Community Action Network for a peaceful sign waving stand to honor the men and women who gave their lives in service to this country.

Memorial Day is a day of remembrance, not celebration. The truest way to honor the fallen is to refuse to add to their number. The United States was drawn into war with Iran earlier this year, the administration is now openly floating military action against Cuba, and American weapons continue to fuel the devastation in Gaza. We believe the families of North Georgia deserve a foreign policy built on diplomacy and restraint, not one that sends another generation to fight and die, and not one that arms the killing of civilians abroad. You can stand with us against war in Iran, against war on Gaza, and against any new war anyone wants to start.

We also stand for the veterans who make it home. Over the past year roughly 40,000 jobs were cut from the Department of Veterans Affairs, with the overwhelming majority coming from health care roles, and wait times for new mental health patients have climbed well past a month. Veterans earned that care. Honoring service means funding it.

So we will be on the corner to say it plainly: honor the fallen, bring them home, and fund the VA.

• We will be on public sidewalks and the right of way only

• Bring a sign, bring water, and bring your family. This is a family friendly event

• Extra poster supplies will be available for anyone who needs one

• We expect all participants to seek to de-escalate any potential confrontation with those who disagree with our values
