Help a Neighbor
Sometimes our neighbors face crises that no one should face alone — a detention, a medical emergency, a sudden loss of income. When that happens, Cherokee County shows up.
NGA CAN's Help a Neighbor fund connects our community with vetted, urgent needs. We confirm each situation personally before listing it here, and every dollar goes directly to the family or individual in need — not to overhead, not to fees.
Donations facilitated through NGA CAN are not tax-deductible. We are a volunteer-led civic organization, not a 501(c)(3). All funds are disbursed directly to recipients.
Cumming, GA Family Facing Eviction After ICE Detention
A father and sole breadwinner in our community was detained by ICE, leaving his wife and three children — including a 4-year-old — without income. Their rent is due April 5. His children are working and missing school to help keep the family afloat.
Goal: $6,800
-
$1,800 for rent due April 5
-
$5,000 for legal representation
NGA CAN and Latino Outreach are proud to collaborate in support of this family. Together we are making sure our neighbors don't face these impossible situations alone.
Support for a Woodstock Family After ICE Detention
A husband and father from our community was detained by ICE in December 2025, leaving behind his wife and three daughters — ages 7, 10, and 13. The family was then targeted by a fraudulent lawyer who scammed them out of money they desperately needed. Funds go toward rent, groceries, utilities, and legal fees ahead of his immigration hearing.
As of March 30, 2026, we have $2,070 raised of $4,000 goal — 52% there. Let's finish this.
NGA CAN and Latino Outreach are proud to collaborate in support of this family, and to amplify this community-organized GoFundMe. Together we are making sure our neighbors don't face these impossible situations alone.
