Help is not coming from where you were told to expect it.

A neighbor gets detained on a Tuesday and the rent is due Friday. A family loses their home in a rezoning vote and there is no relocation plan. A mom skips her own meals so her kids can eat, in a county with a median household income over eighty thousand dollars.

The agencies have waitlists. The forms require documents people cannot get. The help that actually arrives on time comes from the people who live twelve minutes away.

We built the door. NGA CAN is volunteer led, about fifty verified members strong, with roughly 3,800 people on our newsletter across six counties. We are not a registered nonprofit and we are not a political party. We are neighbors who got tired of waiting for someone else to do something.
