Something new is happening in Pickens County. Jasper Community Action Network is launching, and we are starting the way we mean to go on: standing in public, with our names and our faces and our signs, saying clearly what we believe.

We believe in peace. We believe in democracy. We believe that no president is above the law, that no billionaire gets to buy our government, and that the people of this country have not consented to authoritarianism, endless war, or the dismantling of the institutions that protect us all.

We are FOR:

Real American values: freedom of speech, freedom of assembly, freedom of the press, and the rule of law. A foreign policy rooted in diplomacy and human dignity, not saber rattling and capitulation to dictators. Workers, families, farmers, and small business owners over oligarchs and hedge funds. Immigrant neighbors who are part of our communities. Accountability in government at every level. A future worth handing to our kids.

We are AGAINST:

A president who governs by fear, threats, and executive overreach. Illegal detentions, deportations without due process, and the weaponization of federal agencies against ordinary people. Cozying up to authoritarian regimes while abandoning our allies. The gutting of public education, public health, veterans' services, and the social safety net. Silence in the face of injustice.

You do not have to belong to any party or organization to show up. If you are a Democrat, an Independent, a Libertarian, a member of Indivisible, 50501, DSA, PSL, or a Republican who still believes in the Constitution, you are welcome here. If you just think the current administration has completely lost the plot and someone needs to say so out loud in downtown Jasper, Georgia, you are exactly who we are looking for.

Bring a sign. Bring energy. Bring a friend. We rally at Peace Park and we show Pickens County that there are people here who will not stay quiet.

Jasper CAN is a branch of North Georgia Community Action Network (NGA CAN), a volunteer led civic organization with over 4,200 members across Cherokee, Pickens, Bartow, Forsyth, Cobb, and surrounding counties. We organize, we show up, and we are just getting started.
